Additionally, it is important for me to have a career that gives me with the opportunity to provide financially for my family. It is very important for me to earn enough money to not only pay the bills but to also have a little extra for savings and family vacations. As I’ve gone through this process of self-examination, I am confident that my career daydreams are appropriate and that my skills, interests, values are all falling into place. Since one of my values is the ability to financially support my family, I’ve come to the conclusion that I should investigate careers other than a teacher. There are other areas, even in the elementary school environment, where there are opportunities to earn a higher salary. I could also assess whether school administration is a possible path for me as the income tends to be greater.
