Characteristics Of Hard Work

Improved Essays
What makes work hard? There are at least three main criteria that make an activity hard work. These three criteria being that it is challenging in some aspect, mentally and or physically. Requires dedication, wholly committing to earnestly doing it. And finally it must be mandatory. If an activity does not meet at least all of these requirements it is not hard work. School meets these requirements being that it is challenging to both students and teachers, requires the dedication of students and teachers, and it is mandatory to attend for both. School is challenging in that students need long hours of study to learn concepts and teachers need to review concepts and grade student work. Students and teachers must focus wholly and earnestly to …show more content…
Every job has a social contract between the employee and employer, enter into this contract which usually stated something along the lines of ‘work or else you get fired’. However this social contract is not limited to just jobs, it extends to all aspects of society including school. All states in the United States of America have set a law which dictates that students must go to school.an example of this law is of this is Florida state law “1003.21” which is titled “School Attendance”. This law dictates that any student of the age of 6 and above must attend school till they graduate or opt out of and education (minimum age of 16). Furthermore, students and parents enter into a contract with a school district when they sign called the “Student Code of Conduct”, this agreement states that the student will attend and participate in classes as well as follow all school rules. Just as the students must attend school because they agreed to the contract, teachers must attend school because they too entered into a contract with a school district or school. The teacher’s contract is more of job contract then a law, just like above it basically states they must work or they’re fired. Thus requiring the teacher to attend and teach a class of students. Hard work is mandatory and school is mandatory there for it meets the final criteria for being hard

These teachers come from multiple venues, but the two most common types of schools for our students are private schools and public schools. They both work in different ways with a different set up. Benner's theory might not be accurate because people learn differently but it is a very realistic theory. My first job as a CNA probably took all the whole step, my first week of work was very scary, didn't know so much and the residents so well. Education in schools has long been a heated topic, especially in regards to what its purpose is. On one hand, some, such as the ACSD Committee, argue that education’s purpose is “to provide for the fullest possible development of each learner for living morally, creatively, and productively in a democratic society.” However, others identify a far more critical purpose of education, such as that of Jean Anyon. Anyon theorizes in her article “Social Class and the Hidden Curriculum of Work,” that the function of our educational systems is to uphold the structure of today’s society that keeps the working class majority oppressed and its top 1% superior to the working class through the way the curriculum is taught. As someone who has been in school…

Countless students and teachers go to school every day and work very hard to meet what is asked of each of them. Teachers work more than 40 hours a week, especially when there are events going on throughout the school year. Students go to class to earn an “A,” not to learn what the teacher is teaching the class due to the fact that students were taught to contently earn a letter grade in that class. However, teachers are not at fault either because the school board and administrators give the teachers a timeline of all the curriculum the students must learn to a certain point in time of each marking period. In “Against School” by John Taylor Gatto, he describes how numerous students and teachers go to school and they are just dullness is so…

In many discussions with my administrator, I have come to realize that teacher attendance is becoming a problem at our school. In the past the teachers have had to find their own substitute, but a new program now does it for them. It is much easier to just submit an absence as opposed to having to call a list of potential substitutes until one agrees to fill in. In an attempt to encourage teachers to attend school whenever possible and recognize the teachers who have a good attendance record, I created the Postman award.…

Many teachers around the United States are struggling to make a living off of the pay they are making. Teachers are not getting paid enough for the amount of time, work, and effort they put in every day to help us get the highest level of education. Why should teachers not be able to teach the bare minimum when they are getting paid the bare minimum amount? Teachers put their heart and soul into making sure we get the education we need to be successful in life but, are getting paid pretty much nothing compared to other jobs for doing so. They take a lot of time out of their personal lives to help their students when needed, grading papers and work, and having to prepare for what they will be teaching the class.…
