Grey Wolf Optimizer (GWO)

Improved Essays
Grey Wolf Optimizer (GWO) is inspired by grey wolves. The leadership hierarchy and hunting mechanism of grey wolves is mimicked by GWO algorithm. GWO employs four types of grey wolves such as alpha, beta, delta, and omega. GWO consists of three main steps of hunting, searching for prey. Encircling prey, and attacking prey [38].
GWO is benchmarked on many challenging test problems and applied to some real engineering problems. The results reveal that GWO is able to provide very competitive results compared to these well-known meta-heuristics.
Meta-heuristics algorithms have become remarkably common due to some reasons: simplicity, flexibility, local optima avoidance, and derivative free mechanism. The simplicity of these algorithms originates

Alpha is responsible for making decisions about hunting, sleeping place, time to wake. The alpha’s decisions are dictated to the pack. They are called the dominant wolf since their orders should be followed by the pack. They are only allowed to mate in the pack. Alpha is not necessarily the strongest member of the pack, but the best in term of managing the pack [38].
The betas are subordinate wolves, they help the alpha in decision making and other activities .They may be either male or female. They are probably the best candidate to be the alpha. They play the role of an advisor to the alpha and discipliner for the pack [38].
Omegas are the lowest ranking grey wolf. They always have to submit to all the other dominant wolves. In the case of losing the omega, the whole pack face internal fighting and problems.
Deltas have to submit to alpha and beta, but they dominate the omega. This type consists of five groups. They are scouts, sentinels, elders, hunters and caretakers. Scouts are responsible for warning the pack in case of any danger. Sentinels guarantee the safeties of the pack. Elders are the experienced wolves. Hunters provide food for the pack. Finally, the caretakers are responsible for caring for the weak, ill wolves in the pack .Hierarchy of grey wolf is shown in Fig. 3.1.

The author of the novel ´Never Cry Wolf´ ,Farley Mowat, uses many instances to convey the point that the wolves of the great north were portrayed as regardless savages that kill for sport, and that this was false and they are peaceful equalizers of the populations to keep the herds healthy. Originally published in 1963, Mowat sets out on his journey after being given honorary doctorates, he arrives at were his study is supposed to begin in the winter of 1948 and it carries on into 1949. In these records he uses many strategies to convince the reader of his point. Mowat relies pretty heavily on his use of personification towards the end of his book and his characterization of the wolves he observes. As the progression of the study moves on, he develops connections with the dogs and eventually names them as a family or group of humans.…

Frank seems to be the one with all the answers, but he is instead a follower, never truly taking any sides and taking the path of least resistance. Frank does have a great deal of influence upon the group but he establishes this by being passive when it comes to conflicts within the group. After the prolog while Tubs is waiting in the freezing cold for his friends, who obviously don’t care about him, the story begins with Frank and Kenny.…

Wolves are a keystone predators, they help maintain a balance in the ecosystem. They do this by hunting the weak in herds of hooved animals. Some of the animals they hunt include deer, elk, moose, and caribou, as well as beavers and rabbits. They have adapted to eating large prey. The wolves also help the herds become healthy because by eliminating the weak, they are also eliminating disease to be spread amongst the herds helping them become strong as well.…

Wolves are viewed as evil predators and are usually used to reference negative human behaviors. Such as rudely “wolfing” down food or “wolf whistling”, which references the way a man whistles at a woman in a derogatory manner. This perception of wolves may have widely encouraged the creation of the werewolf, a murdering, and torturing composite creature. That embodies the impulsive and unreasoning side of an animal and the violent and dangerous side of humans.…

In every good film, there is an introduction, a rising action, a climax, a falling action, and a conclusion. These are basic staples when it comes to writing and creating a film. But when it comes to the characters in a film, there are some other staples as well. One of these such staples is that there needs to be a solid leader in the film, one who can keep the story moving or put the main character back on track. In Lee Daniel’s “The Butler”, however, we see multiple leaders over the course of the movie, all showing different tactics of leadership that are stated in Barry Posner and James Kouzes’ book “The Leadership Challenge”.…

ANALYSIS AND DESIGN OF CUCKOO ALGORITHM Cuckoo search (CS) is an optimization algorithm developed by Xin-she Yang and Suash Deb in 2009. It was inspired by the obligate brood parasitism of some cuckoo species by laying their eggs in the nests of other host birds (of other species). Some host birds can engage direct conflict with the intruding cuckoos. For example, if a host bird discovers the eggs are not their own, it will either throw these alien eggs away or simply abandon its nest and build a new nest elsewhere. Some cuckoo species such as the New World brood-parasitic Tapera have evolved in such a way that female parasitic cuckoos are often very specialized in the mimicry in colors and pattern of the eggs of a few chosen host species Cuckoo…

I can still remember the day when my parents told me the phrase, “You are a leader, not a follower.” It was in kindergarden right after I told them about a few girls who were making fun of a friend of fine, and I decided to stop them and defend her. When my parents told me that phrase, it definitely stuck with me throughout my life. I think that’s a phase most kids hear time to time in their childhood. It’s that phrase that makes you question, what it a leader?…

Abstract—Feature selection, used as a preprocessing step, can reduce the dimensionality of data and thereby increase the efficiency, accuracy, and clarity of learning systems. However feature selection can be costly endeavour. This paper proposes two new feature selection algorithms, based on binary particle swarm optimisation, with the aim of reducing running time without affecting classification accuracy by combining filter and wrapper approaches. The first algorithm proceeds cautiously by only updating the pbest and gbest, two critical values, after the learning system has been consulted. The second algorithm performs more reckless updates with the aim of sacrificing some performance for speed.…

This kind of new Meta heuristic is inspired by the clever foraging behavior of honey bee swarm. The criteria presented in the work is for numerical function optimization. The advantage of ABC is that the global search ability in the algorithm is implemented by introducing neighborhood source production mechanism.…

In order to get a better result, the pheromone value is always initialized slightly higher than the one released in each iteration. We have taken the initial value of pheromone as τij(0)= m/ Cmin where , τij(t) is the residual pheromone on the path between node i and node j at moment t. m is the number of ants.…
