The overall narration excludes his father’s life from ever being depicted within the film in order to build on this. There are people whom Adonis Johnson meets along the way in order to tell the tale of his father, yet the producers are careful to not make the father a main character that the audience might get attached to. The exclusion of the father’s life clarifies that Adonis Johnson has made the decision to try and become a successful fighter on his own; however, the inclusion of his father’s name “Creed” provides an understanding of his background and where his talent might have originated from. The producers first established the shot by being zoomed out on the city, as the camera moves around. In order to clarify the location to the audience the name is literally written across the bottom right hand of the screen. The entire scene of Adonis Creed arriving to the city, unloading his things, and getting used to his new surrounds in revealed over the span of about one and a half minutes, all while a song is playing in the background.
