This article pertains to an Executive Creative Director of a Detroit-based advertising agency, Campbell Ewald, who sent a culturally insensitive email to his advertising team in San Antonio, Texas. The email stated “Celebrate Ghetto Day in the SA, and we’re inviting our Big D homebitches to cycle in and pop a freak with us” (Salinger 2016). The email further stated “ghetto music, Malt 45s at lunch, ghetto terminology, and of course, drugs and prostitution are legal all day until the close of business”.
