My speech is called “5 Dangerous Things Kids Should Do” written by Gever Tulley. Gever is an American writer, computer scientist, speaker, and also the founder of tinkering school. He specializes in child base learning. This speech does not mean children should go out and hurt themselves. It is more of a learning process for children. In this speech, Gever talks about how children should drive cars, use power tools, own a pocket knife, play with fire, and deconstruct appliances. This speech is to provide parents with minor details that will change their childrens life dramatically. Power tools are meant to be taken serious, so when children know they aren't regular toys and that they can really do damage they will treat them with more responsibility. Responsibility plays a huge role in a child's life. Power tools give children the feeling of power,. Gever also says children should own and use a pocket knife. A pocket knife is a child's first universal tool, especially a swiss army knife. So many tools can lead to many memorable childhood moments. Parents teache the proper safety of the knife, and what can happen when you misuse the blade. The child should be completely capable of handling the knife. Accidents still might happen, but accidents happen your entire life, so it's just another way a child can learn a lesson off of playing with something that is dangerous. We've all been told by a parent or an adult “don't play with fire.” That statement couldn't be anymore wrong.
