Fujii was originally charged with two counts of second-degree murder, but she took plea in which she was convicted of two counts of manslaughter (para 3). Differential association theory follows the viewpoint that criminal behaviour is learned from others (Siegel, Brown & Hoffman, 2013, p. 139). In 1939, Sutherland concluded that individuals take part in crime when they gain more benefit in breaking the law rather than adhering to it (as cited in Pozzulo, Bennell & Forth, 2015, p.8).
