It is the mean between self-indulgence and self-mortification. According to Jstor’s article by Imtiaz Yusuf, he said that the Middle Way is a path to liberation in Buddhism. This path helps people to overcome the five aggregates, which are the cause suffering that people have. Everyone have a desire to get new things in their mind. These desires are similar to the devil that cause people to do immoral things that cause people to suffer from their action. We all know that the five aggregates are the body, sensation, perception, mental formation, and consciousness. Each of these five aggregates has it own type of desire and view. So, these view and desire can cause people to loss of track by doing some extreme things. This is considering a wrong path to be in. So, the Buddha teach his follower to have conscious of themselves and aware of their surroundings. By practicing the Middle Way, one has to have some knowledge and understand that life is not permanent. Everything will start will rise and eventually will be decay in the end. This is the same to the concept of life. People are born pure, and die at the end of their life time. Yusuf said “Middle Way seems a valid option to confront the contemporary scourge of excessive materialism which is challenging all religious ways of life”. I strongly agree with him, because this concept encourages people to be self-indulgence and self-mortification. This will reduce the desire that people have in their heart and make them be content with what they already
