One of humans key things they mostly need in life is friendship. In the book The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-time Indian, Sherman Alexie explains the story of his past through his character Arnold. Arnold goes through many challenges every day of his life, dealing with many different struggles, from being poor and an Indian to going to a white school. Alexie also shows throughout the book the importance of his friends. Arnold couldn’t be who is today without his friends Rowdy, Penelope, and Roger.
