Many different people have favorite sports like baseball, football, basketball, soccer, etc. and everyone is entitled to their own opinions. My favorite sport is basketball and the person that inspires me to do my best on and off the court is the best of all time Michael Jordan. I’ve decided to read the book, “Facing Michael Jordan,” edited by Sean Deveney with Kent McDill to learn more about my role model. Michael Jordan was as my dad would always say, the first on and off the court every time he was on the court. Having one of these awards are considered great and Jordan got all of these awards multiple times just proves he’s the best. In my book it gives stories of players who were Mike’s teammates and Mike’s opponents who played against him and they said he was the most athletic and competitive person that they have ever played against. Even the best player of all time needed coaching to make him and the team better. This is where the famous saying, “There is no I in team,” even the great Michael Jordan needed help and he didn’t get that help until Phil Jackson became the coach of the Chicago Bulls and with their new found team they won three straight championships, then Jordan retired, and came back and won three more straight championships which just shows coachability is very important to a winning team. On page 38 of my book it states, “It wasn’t until Phil Jackson came along and said, ‘You know what? We’re going to take the ball out of your hands, We’re going to trust it with Scottie Pippen, we are going to run the triangle offense, and you’re going to get your touches. But other guys are going to get some touches, too.’ This is what did it; that took them to another level, where he started winning championships,” (38 Deveney). This proves that ball hogging doesn’t win games, but sometimes taking over the game when your team needs it is acceptable. In today’s game of basketball even the great Lebron James needs help or the great Kevin Durant both future hall of fame players need teams to help them win
