"Eye: 'I'"
Read: Ecclesiastes 12
On a "Community Walk" we stopped to enter a local historical tourist promotion company, and inside is embedded on the wall, the world’s shortest poem written by Muhammad Ali, the famous United States of America’s former heavyweight champion of boxing. Ali authored: "Me: We." How profound? I was reminded of our visit, when I asked my assistant to interpret my poem titled "Eye" with only a one word content - "I." I warned that it was based on my existential philosophical anxiety with the here and now. In the making of all interpretations comes down to what the "I," the person thinks.
Now, I wrote this to my assistant: "Here is my philosophy of this week found in the content of my poem titled, …show more content…
Compassionate communication is essential to effective pastoral care in sincere ministry. Marion’s death is an example. Marion is a small town in South Carolina. Life witnessed in Marion holds positive and negative experiences. My parents who met in Marion to begin their life together are buried in Marion marking the ending of their life on earth. During the death and dying experience of our parents, the local pastor was more than a key, he was essential through it all. The ministry of sincere caring and empathizing gave assurance, especially as our Mother transitioned that "though she died, yet shall she live." The human body met the cessation of life, but her soul was believed to be acceptable to the Infinite One - God. Death may be one of the worst times, even when loved ones appear ready to die and cross over the threshold of eternity. Compassionate communication requires the art of listening and caring, while being there. The pastor did not assume that a family filled with clergy would not need the strength of his pastoral care. What the minister gave was a sincere ministry of respect that the live lost was heartfelt and mental
