The movie Evil Dead II: Dead by Dawn (1987) is a sequel to Sam Raimi’s 1981 cult classic movie, The Evil Dead. The movie is more like a remake than a sequel because the storyline seems not to have any continuity with the first one. The Evil Dead (1981) is serious horror film, while Evil Dead II is more sense of horror comedy film. At first, the movie was planned to be the medieval storyline. The concept of the movie has been discussing during the shooting of The Evil Dead. Raimi said that he want to send his hero, Ash, back to Middle Ages. Unfortunately, the production was not able to receive enough funding so the planned had to be scrapped. But the idea eventually becomes the plot of the next movie in the series, Army of Darkness.
