My leadership roles have been described with an array of titles: husband, father, pastor, teacher, prayer leader, associate director, team captain, and coach are a few. The survey states, “group members tend to be encouraged and motivated by this style of leadership.” In my enthusiasm for rising to the mandate set before me, I lost sight of the need to encourage and motivate my second grade colleagues. Another time that I have taken a leadership role is when our sideline cheer team had a booth at the Water Festival. I took the morning shift and when I got there I had all of the materials but only me and my coach had shown up and she still had to head back to the school to get the things we were selling. So while she went and got the stuff I stayed at the booth and lead it by myself until my teammates came and helped. I decided to be a leader in this situation because I knew that it was what I had to do to help my coach out so that she could get her stuff done. I believe that by leading the booth for a few hours I helped my coach accomplish what she had to do for the day and helped my team by sitting at the booth fundraising to help pay for some of our debts.…

I've taken on leadership roles before, especially in my position as a Scout troop leader but also in previous jobs and projects - I like to get work done, and to find ways to do it as efficiently as possible.
