What if you didn’t have a home, and you had to live in an airport? In “Fly Away Home,” by Eve Bunting, that is precisely the way it has always been for the main characters. But the two main characters persevere throughout the whole story. The son’s perspective changes throughout the story. The story is about a young boy named Andrew and his father living in an airport, and how they live. At the beginning of the story, it introduces the son, Andrew and the father, and how they live. It goes along with characters persevering through the story because the father and Andrew have to stay together and stay unnoticed, so they are just people living in , dodging security and living their lives. Andrew, however, often thinks that they might be here forever. This might be because the son lost his mother Nevertheless, his perspective changes at the center of the story.
A turning point in the story is in the middle, when a bird flies into an airport corridor, the boy encourages it to try to get out. After a few days had passed, the bird had flew out, and was free. At that point and time, the boy whispered “Fly away home” to the bird, and a realization came to him. It actually feels heartbreaking because this poor kid looks at everyone looks at everyone saying “We missed you” and “It’s so good to be home,” and the boy doesn’t have a home, so he just watches. He even said he wanted to shout “Why do you have homes when we don’t? What makes you so special?” He, however, must have perseverance and know that in the future, he could have a home and be traveling, and he could also be saying “It’s so good to be home,” because he will have a home.
