Letter To Emma Watson's Humorous Wedding Speech

Dear Emma Watson, It has been a year since you gave your wonderful, life-changing speech as the UN Women Goodwill Ambassador at a special event for the HeForShe campaign. It has been a year I have grown, and developed into a much more conscious and self-aware adult, and husband, who has made it his mission to become a better person by each passing day, and today it is by thanking the person who helped me start this journey, so thank you Emma, for being such an inspiring woman, and more importantly, human-being, I am grateful I heard your “Gender equality is your issue too” speech, and really listened to it. By the time I heard your speech, I did think it was a well-presented, ambitious speech, I admired your passion, braveness, and firmness that you showed speaking and standing there. However I was convinced that where I lived, it was not such a big and intense issue as you told it to be, I was sure that my surroundings treated and thought of each other as equals. In my point of view, there barely was any inequality here in Brockham. We were equals and behaved that way. I thought that I was always fair and equal, that I was not influenced by society's stereotypes and expectations, that my opinions and decisions were not biased by the genders. I was certain that I was not in the slightest sexist. Nonetheless, your speech, and dedication …show more content…
Thank you for reassuring that the problem is still there, and for making not only me but millions of us notice all the little influences. Thank you for using your voice to activate the world. I cannot express my gratitude towards you

As human beings we don’t have the luxury of being able to choose between becoming a male or a female, and regardless of what technology has to offer in the next generations to come it should stay that way. The idea of a man or women ever being more superior to another is an absolute disgrace to our society. In order for our country to function the way it does, men and women on a daily basis must work side by side under no restrictions. In all honesty, being a male I grew up not having to deal with all the sexism that goes on in a girls every day activities. I don’t blame the strong willed women for rebelling and going against the common stereotypes that are tagged against them, I would do the same.…

The Audience of this speech is friends of Susan and of her citizens. The background to the speech is based on women's suffrage specifically women’s rights to vote. In the 1800’s women weren’t allowed to do many things and had few legal rights. Women soon began to realise they could do what men do: think, do business, work, provide and still be women.…

Rhetorical Essay Florence Kelley, a social worker and reformer gave a speech at the convention of the National American Woman Suffrage Association in Philadelphia that emphasizes the need to modify the existing working conditions of young children as a crucial change in society. Through her use of repetition and various anecdotes over the conditions these children work in and the different state policies put in place, Kelley develops a highly compelling argument that ignites an interest in her audience to be aware of the problem and to join the cause in order to reform child labor laws. Kelley first intrigues her audience to the cause by introducing the problem of child labor in the first few lines where she says “…

In today’s society I feel like there is less male privilege compared to previous times. Women are now able to pursue careers that previously were denied to them, such as politics. Although they are able to pursue such careers, there is still a vast difference in female and male salaries. Concerning white privilege, I both agree and disagree with some points McIntosh made throughout the article. Personally I have never thought of myself as an unfairly advantaged person or as an oppressor.…

Endless Possibilities: A Feminist Proposal My fellow feminists [Pause and add as an afterthought] and misogynists, For many years, we, women, have been oppressed in this society by men. [Pause] For too many years, we have been suppressed in this patriarchy. Our voices and rights have been [Emphasize] stripped away from us, the patriarchy trampling over us, leaving in its wake a barren, desolate path of injustice and inequality. For too many years, we women have dealt with all the garbage that has been hurled our way, all the ignorance that has persisted when male legislators moronically and insensibly dealt with female rights, all the unnecessary trouble that came with obtaining rights that should inherently belong to us.…

“A riot is the language of the unheard”. This powerful statement was said by the late Martin Luther King Jr., and with the amount of inequality that has been seen in all areas of life (gender, racial, etc.) paired with the lack of response, it is easy to see how upping one’s protesting tactics to a level of aggressiveness can be beneficial for a movement. However, when one tends to perform nonviolent acts of noncooperation, and gather the attention of many for their movement peacefully, they tend to generate more support: therefore, it is increasingly favorable for a movement to exercise diplomacy rather than aggression. To start things off, equality is a characteristic that should be woven throughout every aspect of our lives without question.…

Shirley Anita St. Hill Chisholm made history by becoming the first black woman to be elected to Congress. Chisholm used her position in Congress as an advocate for the disadvantaged, such as racial minorities, women, and the poor. When it came to the Equal Rights Amendment, Chisholm was an outspoken supporter (“Shirley Chisholm’s “For The Equal Rights Amendment.”). The proposed amendment’s purpose was that equality of rights under the law shall not be denied or abridged by the United States on account of sex. Supporters believed the amendment was necessary to eliminate laws that discriminated on the basis of sex (“The Equal Rights Amendment.”).…

Influential abolitionist and women’s rights activist, Sojourner Truth, speaks passionately about women’s rights at the Women’s Convention in Akron, Ohio in 1851 in her speech later titled “Ain’t I a Woman?”. She implements anaphora, rhetorical questions, and religious appeals to pathos and logos to argue that not only should women be treated equal to men, but women of color should be treated equal to white women as well. She was driven to give this speech, because at this particular convention, there were men in attendance (including ministers) that verbally harassed the speakers. Truth speaks with a frustrated tone to both supportive people and insolent men at the convention.…

Yesterday afternoon my friend Edgar and I have been framed for stealing from a market far from our village, The Kingdom of Evenswell. We were trying to outrun an army, they were chasing us so we can get locked up in a dungeon. The men were so angry that we did not have time to explain what really happened, we didn’t have nothing to defend ourselves and no companion to back us up from the situation, so we kept on running and running and running. Later on, we saw a village a bargaining place I assume. We hid behind the stands but there was so many of them.…

Hillary Clinton’s speech at the 4th World Conference was very persuasive because she spoke to the struggles that women experience on a daily basis. More importantly, she didn’t just address the issues within her home country, rather, she spoke to the issues that women experience worldwide such as being denied the right to vote, domestic abuse, unfair job markets, etc. She also provided a very noteworthy statistic that women make up half of the world’s population, but 70% of the world’s poor, and two-thirds of those who are not taught to read and write. This technique that she used gathered the interest and buy in from women all over the world because it was something that they could all easily relate to. She made a very clever move by tying in womens rights with human rights.…

The Reign of the Feminist “True equality means holding everyone accountable in the same way, regardless of race, gender, faith, ethnicity - or political ideology.” (Monica Crowley). This is especially true for women are beginning to be a true power in this world, with women becoming CEO’S of companies, and running for major offices. People need to realize that times are changing in the twenty-first century for women and today feminism is required to be successful in job fields like politics where women are taking a stand and becoming more assertive, in the home where single mothers who work are still producing children who help society, and in the workplace, where women still need to make a stand to make the same pay and have gender equality.…
