"Embracing Body Positivity" is an article posted in The Sentinel by Elizabeth Nouryeh on March 22, 2016. The article is about going out with the old and in with the new, in other words, forgetting about achieving the perfect, model-like body and embracing the body you presently have. The article focuses on American Eagle Outfitters #aerieREAL campaign and how it has affected the audience. The writer's central claim is to embrace the body you have and to promote body positivity. Nouryeh’s claim is effective because of her use of textual evidence to support the use of stereotypes, ethos, logos, and pathos.
The writer's purpose is to persuade others to ignore negative body images and stereotypical body standards and to love yourself the way you are instead. The intended audience of this article could technically be anyone since we are all affected by body images, but it is specifically targeting the younger generation of women, especially the ones that shop in stores like Aerie and Victoria's Secret. Younger girls and women are easily affected because they spend a great quantity of their time on social media and their morals are shaped by what they see online.

The writer asked the women how they felt about their company’s campaign. Emina Pelija, a sophomore marketing major, replied, "Customers always tell me they don't feel comfortable shopping in Victoria's Secret because it's so intimidating." Kristen Borgogoni, a sophomore biology education major, replied, “I think it's [#aerieREAL campaign] just to show that no matter what your body looks like, you're still beautiful unretouched.” The significance of these quotes is that it provides credibility to the argument that the #aerieREAL campaign is inspiring others to feel beautiful in their own skin and to feel comfortable shopping in Aerie
