“Why did i prey? Strange question. Why did i live? Why did i breathe?” .That's in chapter 1.This shows that elie believes in god. This quote compared to the other quote shows the elie still believe that god is there and that god is real. But this quote that elie does not believe god will save him or any of them. Thats showing that elie is starting to give up on god. And that him not praying means he is not the same elie from chapter 1. This is revelations to me because i never would have thought elie to start to give up on god or to stop giving up on god's saving them.
“I no longer accepted god silence …” That's found in chapter 5. This quote shows and tells me that elie doesn't believe in god. This also tells me that elie doesn't think god is real or that god will save them. I think that elie is filled with rage towards god and the people putting them in these concentration camps. I think that elie is done praying to god and hoping that god will answer and i don't blame him. I also think that elie is sick of praying and oping that god will save them.
At the beginning of the story elie/eliezer believed in god. He believed that god would save him. That was in chapter 1. Then elie starts to say hey i have prayed to god why is there no answer. Know to me this is a big change in elie, for good or
