I used lines to make a door in my diner to show that I am an open person. I felt trapped in Hopper’s painting. The diner had no doors and was surrounded by windows. I am a very open person and wanted to show that in my work. I decided to keep the window to show I am a very see through person, I always tell the truth. I kept the building Hopper painted because it represents the city well. I love architecture and really like the building Hopper was able to paint because they are like buildings I have never seen before. I have never seen a building with a curved window like the window for the diner. I decided not to add the counter from the original painting because the curve made the customers and worker seem trapped so I decided to draw normal square tables in the diner. In the original painting the dark colors show that it is night, but because I used bright colors it looks like the day. To show that it is night time in my drawing I added a clock. I wanted it to be night like the original drawing because New York is known as the city that never sleeps and I wanted to encourage that. I also added letters on the sign. I wrote “New York City” because I am not a mysterious person so I wanted to let the viewer know where the location of the diner is so they did not have to guess. I also added happy people to represent some of the people in my life and to show I am not lonely like the original painting. All the people in the painting are interacting with others to show that I enjoy being social and I do not want anyone to be lonely. I added objects throughout my drawing to put my own touch on Hopper’s
