The mythical Donald Trump is a knotty character, he trades on several mythologies involving success, power, a man of “action”, authenticity (tells it as it is as “he’s one of us”) and the American greatness and destiny. Analysis on media texts is necessary for the audience to gain a better understanding of the power media texts produce meanings. We need textual analysis to identify how different elements of media texts form together to produce meaning and also how ‘common sense’ meanings are socially constructed.
In the Donald Trump video, one form of analysing the media text is how media platforms present Donald Trump in a certain manner. In the beginning of the video, the scene of an branded “Trump” aircraft in the process of landing with the audio commentary of “Donald Trump continues to dominate” enhanced with dramatic yet welcoming surround sounds creates a ideation that something quite significant has arrived. The element of media from the news reporters communicating that “Donald Trump continues to dominate” inherits a statement which produces a meaning that he is the focus of attention, he is wealthy interpreted through the method of transportation using his own aircraft and the fact that all the media is directly focused on Trump this creates a substantial media platform to present Trump in a standout manner.
Donald Trump represents three types of semiotics, one an icon because he is well known across in a large demographic scale, especially in the United States of America because he is a prime candidate in the running for president in the election programme, a significant event that happens every four years that drives the world’s attention to this occasion by what else but …show more content…
