Never Trump Persuasive Essay

I remember when Donald Trump first announced his political run for office. He built his campaign on the slogan: We’re going to Make America Great Again, “reinforced” by his bold claim of “building a wall”. When Trump got down into the weeds with Megyn Kelly during the first Fox News Republican debate, I sensed Donald Trump was a proud and arrogant man. I went on my own campaign against him; making phone calls, writing emails, calling news agencies and talk shows, posting madly to Facebook — whatever I could do to try to stop a really bad person from wrecking the Republican Party and damaging the nation. NeverTrump was my obsession, but it was, at that time, merely political for me. Yet — even then — something else was bothering me.

People were acting as if they were under some kind of spell. I started to refer to Trump followers as Trump Zombies. This effect was not limited to “the uneducated people” — you know — the ones Donald Trump says he loves. Intelligent people like Chris Christie, Ben Carson, and Newt Gingrich, as well as people in the media, also seemed to be losing discernment, or at least appeared unaffected by things happening right under their noses. I had a title for them as well: Trump Stooges. Reasonable, intelligent people, critical of Donald Trump, would enter a private meeting as opponents and exit as good buddies. Suddenly, they understood him. After Melania Trump’s RNC speech, even Karl Rove got in on the act, commenting that her speech was “warm and authentic”. Yeah — except for the parts where she plagiarized Michelle Obama’s 2008 convention speech.

One person in the news media I have admired is Megyn Kelly. She seems to have resisted the “spell” Trump has been able to put on so many. Early on, she noticed something was not right. Here is a quote from Nick Gass’s article in Politico titled, “Kelly on Trump: the Media Have to Worry About Our

Introduction I’m sure that many people these days have noted Mr. Trump’s battle or comments on Twitter have often been blown up into their faces by the media these days. In fact, it’s quite rare to find a news article that doesn’t include the infamous family name “Trump” either. It’s a constant ongoing battle between the Trump and media sources. After all, he had went from a big television personality to now becoming our president, which no one would have originally seen coming and is a particular nuisance to many as he both dislikes media and tends to make outrageous statements. Yet, many people within America and even outside of America tend to be attracted to this attention to Trump’s administration.…

Donald Trump fueled the alt-right, which is a mix of rightist online phenomena including everything from 4chan to neo-Nazi sites and stimulated the online culture wars (Nagle 11). The way in which Trump could put out many different tweets showed those on the extreme level that he did not have to say things in a certain way and many people agreed with the way in which he handled things. This was especially true with Roosh V, a pickup artist and neo-masculinist, who wrote a series of books in which he went to different countries to find different strategies to manipulate and coax women to have sex (Nagle 89). Roosh V saw Trump’s victory as a win for his movement saying, “we now have a President who rates women on a 1-10 scale in the same way that we do” (Nagle 90). This shows that people would take some of what Donald Trump would say to the extreme and in turn create papers, series, and online memes that could potentially cause a conflict with others including liberals and feminists.…

“The basic tool for the manipulation of reality is the manipulation of words. If you can control the meaning of words, you can control the people who must use the words” (Philip K. Dick, 1980). We humans can be easily manipulated by words of someone. Words can be structured to target a certain audience, where the language used is varied depending on where it is being presented. We can see this in political speeches, where certain words are used with the specific purpose to give value to the audience.…

Donald Trump’s slogan may be “Make America Great Again” but that will never be reality with him as president. According to polls from Huffington Post on Apr. 3, 45 percent of Republicans favor Trump. With blatant statements for everything ranging from women to war, the real estate tycoon dominates over the presidential election despite being the most unqualified candidate due to his political career, or lack thereof. However, the overwhelming preference for him is distressing because he built his rhetoric on bigotry and a shaky involvement with politics.…

My advice to makayla is to never get stuck on one question no longer than five minutes. It's okay to skip a question and come back to it later once you have answer all of the other questions. It's also okay to guess intelligently on some of the questions. I feel that you shouldn't always linger on the same questions, because that can cause you to loose most of you time on the test. John When writing I think John should just write everything out first step-by-step.…

I believe Hilary Clinton won the final presidential debate. Clinton’s performance was more persuasive than Trump’s because she spoke with sophistication and intelligences. This country can go in two directions. The first way is up, with Clintons ideas and views I believe our country can become great and everything from trade to economy can thrive. The second way is down, with Trumps and his ideas to build a wall to keep immigrants out and his lack of commence sense and human decency.…

Trump markets himself as a businessman and not a politician; in his campaign announcement speech Trumps keeps referring to himself as the “right guy,” the guy who is going to make America great again. Trumps wants to instill and, more importantly, bring out the skepticism in the public; he claims that America has been brought to near ruin because of the incompetence of America’s current leaders. He attacks and belittles politicians as seen in his speech when, after discussing America’s debt to China,”How stupid are our leaders? How stupid are these politicians to allow this to happen?”(Trump, Donald. “Our Country Needs a Truly Great Leader”Trump Tower, New York City.…
