R&B Memories
Why do we listen to music? There are many different types of music that is listened to based off how we’re feeling at the time or what is liked. R&B music makes people remember old times or brings back old feelings and memories. You can listen to slow R&B for romantic reasons, special occasions, because of the calmness and just maybe because it’s your favorite type of music. “Don’t Change” by Musiq Soulchild gives hope in love and marriage and reminds people of what it is like to have someone that loves you unconditionally. The song “Don’t Change” is a love song about how Musiq Soulchild will always love his wife as long as her love for him doesn’t change. She questions him about if he still loves her because it has been many years and they both are physically changing. He lets her know she will always be the most beautiful woman he knows and his love for her will never change. She may gain weight, hair turn grey and not be a magazine or tv model. In Soul bounce interview, he states “There’s going to be rough waters, there’s going to be turbulence. You’ve just got to ride it out and figure it out.” In the Don’t Change video he shows that he stays with his wife no matter what they go through. They start off young and show their love before marriage and kids. They get married while she’s hurt and he’s by her side the entire time. Even though she gets older and starts changing physically he still loves her the same. At the end of the video they do an interview talking about how to be in love and why they are still in love, after many years still smiling and enjoying life to the fullest.
