While Deborah is in the mental hospital she draws a lot in her sketchbook, portraits of others or whatever comes to mind. In chapter ten she sketches Carla, her close friend, and for a very short time she seems happy. A sketchbook or lots of paper is another thing you would find in Deborah’s trash can, I imagine this because she loves to draw, of course she would throw her messed up sketches away. Another item I would definitely think you would find in her trash can is cold packs. Cold packs are what they used at the mental hospital to calm her down from her episodes. Whenever she decides to leave the mental hospital I would think that she would still use this method to help herself. In chapter seven is when she first begins using them, and has not stopped since then and actually asks to be wrapped with them, rather than being forced into it
