The movie Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon was a film directed by Ang Lee. This film takes place in China during the 19th century; which during this time China faced land shortages, famine, a growth in population, and inflation. This movie is a historical fiction film where the story is fictional, however it borrows true events that happen during the 19th century. Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon is set in the Qing Dynasty along with the Qianlong Emperor who was the ruler at this time. The story goes on and we meet a man named Master Li Mu Bai a successful warrior that is having thoughts of quitting his warrior life.
