What ideas in the article appealed to you? Which ones didn 't? Why and why not? What I agree on her idea is professors have to stop handing out so many materials, rather they have to show us how to find our own ways of teaching and managing classroom. This is true because teaching is really different from knowing the knowledge. Teaching is delivering what we know to help students understand and make sense out of the knowledge, so teaching makes time, experience, and modification. Knowledge that we learn from school is not enough for us to be prepared to go and teach, but requires us to find our own ways. On the contrary, what I disagree on her is teaching different grades are almost the same. In my experiences, I thought the teaching styles and ways had to be adjusted depending on what grades and levels of students I teach. I modified the same lesson to be more appropriate to my target students and, sometimes adjusted my skills of delivering even if it was the totally same content. Thus, I have a little bit of doubt on her opinion.
If you could respond to Ms. Ohanian, what would you say to her?

How does this relate to Classroom Management? The idea that is “there is no instant, stir-and-serve recipe for a running classroom” is closely related to Classroom Management. When teachers first year of school, many of them have trial and errors. Even though all the teacher trainees learn similar course manual and knowledge that was gained from their professors or other teachers, every teacher has different classroom management styles and develop their own ways of dealing with problems and students. Thus, it is not true that there is one best way of managing the class, which makes me to agree on her idea that classroom management is what we have to grow on our own garden, not things given by our

    I would have a specific seating chart and place the students where they would be less distracting.
