Essay On My Mentor Noel

Improved Essays
I really liked this project because it gave us a opportunity to network early. We met mentors who own businesses and have experience. Our mentors came every thursday to support us our mentors were Ian, Noel and Tim. I felt like they were all useful and supportable in teaching us how to make a business. For example whenever Mariana, Lucki and me were in doubt Our mentor Noel will tell us that we got a brilliant idea to keep on don’t give up on your idea. It would be times when I would get frustrated with this business idea. But, my mentors would talk to us ,ask us what were we doing. There was this time everyone had their prototype already bought and had everything well organized and we were still trying to work on our prototype Noel gave …show more content…
Tim Lord inspired me because he is the co founder of dreamyard without him they won’t be a Dreamyard. Noel Calloway inspired me because he has written and produced a lot of good films and has won awards. Ian Madover inspires me because he has a clothing line and I hope some day to have my clothing line. It was really inspiring to know that all the mentors started with an idea just like us. Later on their idea developed and became successful. I was inspired because my idea can become Successful at any time. Most importantly all of these mentors have accomplished something and they were once in the same place as us whether they were in doubt of their idea or they had to think outside the box to develop their ideas. I really enjoyed the mentors being there to support us and guide us through business practice. This was a great experience because I got the opportunity to learn thing about business and maybe in the future I can take these lessons. I felt like the most useful information for me was when the mentors told me the difference between a non profit and a profit …show more content…
Our first challenge was in the beginning when we were not sure of our idea. This was a challenge because we were going to be behind if we did not have an idea. This was also a hard challenge because if one of us would come up with an idea the rest of the group wouldn’t agree. However, we overcame this challenge by just putting our interest aside and just sticking to one idea. Another challenge we faced as a group was when we finally decided that City Pro was going to be our business we had the mentors telling us that our idea already existed and what was going to make our idea any different from Google Maps and the MTA subway app. I personally felt like this was a challenge for our group because we spent every day thinking what cool features can we add to make our app different. We overcame this challenge by adding features such as filters asking people are they “to early””to late” or “on time” also we added visual directions and other features such as food near or bathroom near destination search. The biggest challenge of them all was when we were insecure about our business and we decided to change our business idea at the last minute. I asked all the mentors if i can change my business and they said it was too late. We were going to change our business idea to a sport apparel. I was so convinced that this idea was going to be better than the City Pro

Out of the varied selection, I opted for the business and management option and shortly discovered that it had been one of the most beneficial scholastic decisions I have made as it introduced me to the principles of the field and reinforced my interest exponentially as a result of working with real-life situations on a daily basis and immersing myself in the vocabulary and behavior of the business world; knowing that I had a lifetime ahead of me filled with the aforementioned made me confident I was making the right career choice. Soon I joined the UIL category of accounting after being introduced to it by an accounting course and realized that I wanted to pursue an education and career in this specific field. Becoming a part of UIL not only taught me advanced components of accounting, but required me to practice vigorously and learn how to work well under pressure as the tests are timed and competition is tenacious. Competing against other students was enjoyable because the more I learned meant the better my chance at winning and the broader my knowledge of accounting became. In a short amount of time, I was able to master exams with confidence, earning a substantial score without the constant worry of the time I had left or the validity of my responses and even advancing to the regional UIL meet of South Texas where I placed seventh out of…
