“But I screamed and pushed him backward so that he fell off the bed and onto the floor.” (page 22) Christopher is displayed as a highly expressive person in this scene. In this situation Christopher is very angry, and he shows that by screaming without hesitating. Secondly, Christopher resorts to physical violence to express himself. He is so angry at his father, that he pushes him, which causes him to fall onto the floor. The considerable amount of force that Christopher uses reflects how much rage he has. Although Christopher is usually a logical person he sometimes loses his grip, and can’t control his feelings properly.

"Excuse me, sir," said the police officer, "We found your son hundreds of miles away in London with your ex-wife and the homewrecker. " Christopher, a 15-year-old boy in the novel, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time written by Mark Haddon, runs away proceeding a string of life changing events such as the stabbing of an innocent pouch. By analyzing the conflict, symbols, motifs, theme, characters of the novel, and looking at the story through the psychoanalytical lens, Christopher’s attempt to run away just may be justifiable. When Christopher realizes that his dad has killed Wellington, he thinks that he may be in danger and that he must get out and leave as soon as he can. He makes the decision that he must go on a journey to live with his mother in London and when he is talking to Mrs. Alexander he tells her his plan: “I’m going to live with my mother because Father killed Wellington, and he lied and I’m frightened of being in the house with him” (134). This specific example is of Christopher’s physical journey; however, he does also go through an emotional journey while on his quest to find his mother. He overcomes many of the fears and behavioural problems that he has, doing so all on his own without the support of his father or teacher. When Christopher is in the train station, he knows that he must go through the tunnel to get to the train, but he is extremely scared, and compares it to standing on the edge of a cliff; however he finds a way to overcome his fear, and go through the tunnel: “And it was like stepping off the cliff on a tightrope.…

The evidence for Christopher’s inability to connect on an emotional level is shown through the use of emoticons in Chapter 3. The emoticons disrupt the traditional narrative form therefore serve to critique traditional ways of communication reveal that although Christopher is able to recognise basic emotions such as happy and sad, he cannot recognise more subtle, complex emotions, or their causes. The happy emoticon is used once more when Christopher receives the results of his A-level and emphasises that Christopher is unable to express emotions through actions and words. The effects that this has on his parents can be seen during their fight in Judy Boone’s apartment in the short sentence ‘There were tears dripping down his face’. The irony is employed by Haddon as Christopher is able to describe his father’s distress in an unemotional and detached manner whilst the reader is so emotionally involved.…

Considering many reasons why the author Mark Haddon may have wanted to write this book "The Curious Incident of The Dog in The Night-time. " I have narrowed it down to about 2 to 3 reasons. I believe he most definitely wanted to different the most writers who write murder mystery novels. Unlike other writers of this genre he wrote about a murder of a dog which then twisted into a story about a conflicted family. The way he writes this book is also quite different, he labeled his chapter with prime numbers.…

The Curious incident of the Dog in the Night- time was a good book, but it had many flaws. I personally didn't care for the language of the book where he would put in many words other phrases, that I, personally, did not like. I am not a fan of the British way of speaking. Mark Haddon clearly thought it was a good idea to put it into the book, and I can see why. I get that he is trying to emphasize the fact that Christopher is from Great Britain.…

The word maverick means, an unorthodox or independent-minded person. To be a Maverick you might think differently than other people, or do things that no one would expect. Guy Montag From Fahrenheit 451 showed us that being a Maverick means saving something that makes you happy, and not caring about what society thinks. He showed us that just because everyone thinks the same, doesn't mean that what they are thinking is right. Christopher Boone from The Curious Incident Of The Dog…

Due to some sort of behavior disability (which is never really given a name in the book but which resembles autism), Christopher’s response to conflict is debilitating both mentally and physically. Throughout the novel, Christopher deals with internal and external conflict. While conflict is part of everyone’s life, it is especially troublesome in Christopher’s. Christopher faces many conflicts throughout the story, many of them happen within himself.…
