Even though many people would think that was evil to do he was just trying to keep a good image of his mother in Christopher’s. He did not want him to think that his mother left him. “They asked me who my family was. I said it was Father, but Mother was dead,” (pg.14). Even though Christopher’s dad lied to Christopher it was just to protect Christopher. Even though he killed wellington at least he did not leave Christopher for Mrs. Shears like his mother did. When Christopher went missing his dad was worried sick and even sent a guard all the way to a train that was going to London. “And then I looked up and saw that there was a policeman standing in front of me and he was saying, "Anyone at home?" but I didn't know what that meant,” (pg.104). The main case against Mr. Boone is that he lied to Christopher about his mother’s death. Mrs. Boone no longer loved Mr. Boone and she went away with their neighbor Mr. Shears, leaving Mr. Boone to take care of Christopher on his own. After she left, Mr. Boone told Christopher “that she died of a heart attack” and that he wouldn’t be able to see her again(27). By not revealing the truth of his mother’s absence, he fabricates the truth by saying that she is dead, which is a lie. Christopher hates lies and he says himself that “ loving someone is … telling them the truth” so by Mr. Boone not telling the truth about his mother, to Christopher that means that his father doesn’t love him.…

I agree with Christopher to not trust his father because his father had lied about his mom being dead and how his father killed Wellington (the dog). I don’t think his father should’ve lied because Christopher later felt like he was too dangerous to live with. But if his father hadn’t lied none of the exciting things would have happened in this book. I also feel like he should’ve just confronted him about his mother instead of killing Wellington so the main character can figure it out. ( Haddon 120 - 122 )…
