The Magnolia Story Analysis

Have you ever sat down and thought about your future: when you would get married, have a family, or start your career? In the novel composed by Chip and Joanna Gaines, The Magnolia Story, Joanna never thought she would end up marrying a man who was so creative and determined to create a difference in others’ lives. When Chip Gains and Joanna Stevens met in her father’s shop, she knew something was special about the handsome man. After going out together copious times and dating for several years, the two finally announced their marriage. They spent many years together moving around and buying different houses; hence that was Chip’s most common interest. Along the way, Joanna found her love for interior design, especially when it came to their four children’s rooms. Not only was the story of their lives entertaining, but also magnificent in the aspect of showing life lessons. Incidentally, after having a horrendous honeymoon, the couple ran into some trouble and ended up having a flat tire on their RV. Shortly after, a nice man in charge of the tow truck company said to them, “Well, guys, it looks like the honeymoon is over. This one’s on us,” (Gains 40). The man in charge had found out from the other workers --who talked to the couple-- had said that they were on their honeymoon and had been having an onerous time; however, from this nice man’s actions, that moment turned out to be one of the couple’s favorite stories to tell. Kindness that was shown through that man gave them a great uplift to the rest of their honeymoon. This story is only one example of a life lesson that is learned throughout the couple's lives. Nevertheless, reading about this lesson, and the others that follow it, can give anyone a different aspect of life and create a benevolent environment around
