The main character is William Wallace, who is a fairly tall man. He stands tall, wearing leather armor and his kilt representing his family tartan, and carrying a Claymore ready to fight any Englishman that comes his way. On the opposite side of the spectrum with the English you have the man that Wallace wants to kill and free Scotland from, King Edward the First of England. King Edward the First is an egotistical man who kills his own son due to him not wanting to marry a woman, but be with another man. The King also does not care for his own men, to the point he orders his archers to open fire to kill the Scott's despite being advised that the arrows would also kill his own men. Living conditions, clothing, life, combat, and etc are all depicted. If they are looking to learn the historical perspective in retrospect to the English and Scottish relationship during the 13th century, or if they are looking into it to learn about the First War of Scottish Independence it is a good movie. It is entertaining and keeps a historical context on the events portrayed. As a student in higher education I say it is one of the better movies out depicting events in history.
