Analysis Of Body Art By Sarah Vine

I am writing with my greatest concern on the article written by Sarah Vine “Body art? No, tattoos are hideous self-harm” published by Daily Mail in 11th of June 2014. I am worried about the safety of Sarah Vine, because the truth is, a patient and kind-hearted person like me will be delighted to send her to the asylum.

Firstly, In the title “Body art? No, tattoos are hideous self-harm” Sarah Vine claims tattoos as hideous self-harm other than body art. The word hideous “extremely bad or ugly” established her point of view, and shows her jealousy from deep inside. You might wonder why I pointed out her jealousy when she had written: “If any child of mine gets one, it’ll be the white spirit and wire wool, and no mistake” Such brutal image

But his tattoos and accent are a perennial reminder of his working-class roots.” The phrase she uses, “Perennial reminder”, claiming no matter what happened this reminder will present at all seasons of the year. Well, sorry for Sarah Vine, she has to accept the truth that she is barking at random people now; which states she does not have any pieces of evidence that tattoos are hideous. Her jealousy is like the smell of a skunk diffuses into the air, I can even smell it 1726.1km away. This woman is describing David Beckham! I am not saying Beckham is perfect and she is being wrong judging him but the phrases she uses, “working class roots” irritated me so much. Is she judging a person by their appearance now? Having tattoos and accents different from hers mean I am from working class? Hope I will never meet her, or else I am afraid I won’t be able to speak or even roll up my sleeves. I don’t want her to put a random tag on me. I don’t know who gave her the confident on judging people by their background, accents, and appearances, I wish her all the best because she is so brave to be living in her own fantasy world. I feel sorry for whoever has to stay with her; such arrogant, stereotypical and hypocritical …show more content…
Vine didn’t use any scientific pieces of evidence to support her point or any shreds of evidence proving tattoos are just “hideous self-harm”. All she had done is just pointing at random famous people who have tattoos and started judging; she also has an hypocritical mind which blinded her eyes on seeing the world--she can’t see things outside of stereotypes! I might be very mean to her and not being nice, but I think I had made a good point that I strongly disagree with her, and I hope someday she can realize that she had been lying to herself and hopefully she can learn that it is ok to be

Tattoos and Piercings Bias Tattoos and piercings have become more and more popular fashion statements as artists continue to create new ideas, as well as the acceptance of the ink and jewelry. Although it may seem that there is an approval towards this style, many are put into stereotypical categories based on their appearance. Regardless of who the person truly is, the bias associated with tattoos and piercings often leads him/her to be percieved as less intelligent, fraudulent, and less spiritual.…

There is a famous saying by unknown author that says, “sometimes the nicest people you meet are covered in tattoos and sometimes the most judgmental people you meet go to church on Sundays,” this quote helps to examine how looks doesn’t matter but action does. Having tattoos shouldn’t be considered against social norms and value because tattoo should be looked as freedom of speech or of expression. In Ronald P. White’s article “The Art, the First Amendment and the Courts” helps demonstrates how tattoos and the art of tattooing are forms of pure expression fully protected by the 1st Amendment which helps protects freedom of speech. People get tattoos to tell one’s story to the world through a visual representation of an important moment, person…

Tattoos and why they should not be considered deviant Humans have marked their bodies with tattoos for thousands of years. These permanent designs, sometimes plain, sometimes elaborate, always personal markings have served as amulets, status symbols, declarations of love, signs of religious beliefs, adornments and even forms of punishment. Prior to my research I had no idea where the tattoo even originated from? Which is ironic because neither does anyone else. The history of the tattoos are very hard to trace.…

An event like this does not justify getting a tattoo. People make up excuses for getting tattoos, whether it be an eighteenth birthday present or a favorite quote, which is foolish. I do not think that people understand how permanent a tattoo really is. Jamison even said that she “branded” herself with this tattoo, to symbolize her freedom from her ex-boyfriend. This word is full of negative, unpleasant emotion, and it baffles me why anyone would want to be “branded” at…

Shenanigans Tattoo: A Refreshing Twist of a Tattoo Parlor Like others, I had a complete mock up of what I thought a tattoo parlor would be envisioned in my mind. Provocative art work would cover every inch of the walls, floors concealed with dirt, and unsanitary couches as well as chipped paint that looked like it had been there since the dawn of time. I was reluctant, to say the least, that I could be wrong about this stereotype as well as the stereotypes that follow the men and women that work in tattoo shops. Luckily for me, Shenanigans Tattoo was something out of the ordinary. It exhibited all the qualities of a tattoo parlor but took on a whole new light that made the shop shine.…

In the two articles "Tattoos: The Ultimate in Expression" by Ron Johnson, and "Think Before You Ink" author Leeanne Padowski the authors argue abot the pros and cons of tattoos. Ron Johnson believes that tattoos are the ultimate form of self expression, and a great way to express individual personality, yet on the other hand "Think Before You Ink' author Leeanne Padowski has the belief that tattoos present many health risks and sometimes regret. " Think Before You Ink" has more facts to support it's argument than the article "Tattoos: The Ultimate in Expression".…

Why is it that tattoos are believed to be undesirable and people with them are looked down upon? Tattoos, much like graffiti, are a way for people to tell a story and express their individuality; it’s an act of visual art. Many times, people get inked to honor someone, exemplifies the struggles they overcame, or even because it symbolizes something important to them. Walter Fisher once wrote that “..narratives are fundamental to communication and provide structure for human experience and influence people to share common explanations and understandings.”(pg. 58). Tattoos were once believed to be a risky and despised by society owing to the fact that it’s generational exemplification of rebellion, hard living, etc.…

Art is a way to express the emotions and experiences of an individual. The current generation is expressing art on their bodies in the form of tattoos. Tattoos are now becoming less taboo than they once were. In the past, if a person had tattoos then people would either think that they were in a gang, freak show, or a sailor. I have chosen to explore the perception of tattoos and more specifically, tattoos in the work place.…
