Analysis Of Black Boy: The Book Trailer

Decent Essays
As the group of Black Boy we chose to do the book trailer as our final product. The book trailer held several ways to enhance the “way” in which the story could be told through sight. Freedom of creativity was also a plus considering Alexis has experience with making videos. Book trailers not only summarize the story, but they appeal to the eyes. All in all a book trailer is a mini movie that allows the imagination to be brought to life right before your eyes.

I chose to do my book trailer for a public library, Bruce Public Library. My book trailer is on Kelley Armstrong’s first book in the Cainsville series, Omens. When I was trying to figure out what book I wanted to do my trailer on, I made a massive list of all the books I read that teens might like to read. Then I went through the list and watched book trailers for each of them, slowly narrowing down my list. I crossed off books that didn’t have any trailers I liked and books that I couldn’t come up with a plan for their book trailers.…

I would be lying if I told you I didn’t think the Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle trailer made the film look stupid but I’m happy to report that I was wrong here. It’s been a rough couple of weeks for movies but the tide may have turned. Jumanji opens with the infamous board game we all remember from back in the day now converted into video game mode because no one in 1996 played board games the second Sony changed the game with the PlayStation 1. Meanwhile, at a high school, 4 students have detention when they decide to plug-in the new and improved Jumanji and get sucked into the game.…

For my independent project, I watched the movie Teenage Wolfpack by George Terssler. This movie is focusing on the teenage rebellion in West Germany during the late 50s. Tressler wants to take a closer look at these teenagers and see why they’re doing all these malicious acts, what’s causing it, and also how much American culture is responsible for these behaviors. Also, this movie has a lot in common with the East Germany movie, Berlin-Ecke Schonhauser and the American movie, The Wild One.…

During the time of The Civil War, Spaghetti westerns rarely made it in America. The only Westerns that made it were made by Italian director Sergio Leone (INTERVIEW). The film, The Good, The Bad, and The ugly had a great blend of humor and a good story line, helping to make the film's popularity rise. In the film, while the Civil War was going on, two men by the names of Blondie or The Good (played by Clint Eastwood) and Tuco or The Ugly ( Eli Wallach) ran their own business. The two men would use Tuco's bounty as a way to get money by turning him in.…

The Debut (2000) was a film presenting the positive aspects of the Filipino culture, using the real problems and relatable issues that teenagers face. This film is one of the first films I’ve viewed which portrays an Asian culture as what it truly is. Unlike many other films and scenes in Hollywood cinema, this film did not use negative stereotypes or derogatory topics as its main base. Director Gene Cajayon is from the Filipino agency and grew up in its heritage; this reflects on the films true use of Tagalog, traditions, relationships, and cultural values. What was particularly enjoyable was the scenes of dancing and singing that are accurate presentations of the Tinikling dance with string instruments.…

The brothers Joel and Ethan Coen and Wes Anderson are known for their distinctive visual and thematic styles of film making. Although their respective films The Big Lebowski and The Royal Tenenbaums both have a unique style all their own they do share a theme. This shared narrative motif is a nostalgic yearning for, or perhaps even obsession, with the past. In The Big Lebowski this obsession with the past can be seen at the very beginning of the film as we follow a tumbling tumbleweed, an iconic symbol of the old west, as it tumbles through the California desert.…

Book trailers are a great way to use video marketing to sell books and are frequently used by both publishing houses and independent authors. Unfortunately, not many people have mastered the art so most book trailers end up looking generic, cheap, and boring and fail to sell any books. In the worst cases, they can steer people away from buying the book they are supposed to promote. Here are a few ways to get your book trailer noticed from the hundreds that are already out there. 1.…

The poor in American Society are the victims of the social theory referred to as CONFLICT THEORY. The theory explains that the social STRATIFICTION SYSTEM is not functioning properly and the rich benefit more from the governmental decisions at the expense of the disadvantaged, those who rightly need the assistance. This theory is shockingly apparent in the Frontline documentary “Poor Kids”. This film follows the lives of three families’ struggling to deal with life’s most crippling situations the best way they can. The film demonstrates that being poor is not always a question of a PERSONAL PROBLEM related to the ABUSE of drugs or alcohol, but of a SOCIAL PROBLEM with unemployment, lack of job opportunities, and in this particular film, recession.…
