The beginning of his career started as few others do. He didn't actually want to perform and play his songs for people, but rather have other people sing his songs. "Yet after writing his first few songs, including "The Song that Jane Likes" and "Recently", he began to consider starting his own band" (wikipedia.com). There was only one answer to this Matthews explains. "I didn't really have a vision, or a plan," says Matthews, acknowledging that some of his musical sensibility came from spending time in so many different places as a child.…

“ It would be neat, if with the New Year” by Jimmy Baca is a short poem, which holds a deep significance about the past and future, about things that have been parts of our ordinary life. In the poem, the speaker desires a fresh start in his life, but in the end he soon realizes that he can never throw away his past to move on completely. With the skillful uses of symbolism, metaphor, imagery, and narrative poetry, the author successfully leads the mystery and depth of the poem to the readers. To begin with, Baca purposely creates a diversion in the title and the first two sentences to surprise the reader later in the poem. As first, he believes that moving on is the right thing, “It would be neat if with the New Year” (line 1), which shows…
Song Analysis of “Get Down” By OG Maco OG Maco is an up and coming hip hop artist. His fame can be accredited to his hit single called “Bitch You guessed it”. “Smells Like Teen Spirit” is a song originally written and recorded by the Grunge band Nirvana in 1991 on their “Nevermind” album and is considered to be one of the most influential songs the band had written during their time. One year later, “Smells Like Teen Spirit” was covered by singer-songwriter Tori Amos for her “Crucify” EP. While the cover may be extremely different from the original, there are still some elements that are similar among both versions. In contrast, both Nirvana and Amos play different styles of music which would change how the song is viewed by their respective audiences. Although the lyrics, in general, are the same, the overall meaning and mood of the song is different based which artist is playing the song.…
It’s Such a Beautiful Day is a film by American writer and director Don Hertzfeldt. Hertzfeldt is an award winning cult animator who combined three of his earlier short films, seamlessly into one longer film. It’s Such a Beautiful Day tells the discombobulating story of Bill, a stick figure man suffering from an unnamed illness. According to Floyd, “summertime” was the opening song written by George Gershwin for his folk opera porgy and Bess in 1935 which was an easy lullaby (218). Summertime was an aria and it is somewhat attributed to Ira Gershwin. The song became a well-liked hit and to a great extent recorded jazz standard and its lyrics written by Dubose Heyward who is the author of novel porgy. This song was been labeled as on the classics by many and to a large extent a xenophobic minstrel by others. Regardless of Gershwin’s good will, Floyd exemplifies that George’s work was contentious and was damned for its so-called orthodox representation of the black American life (219).…
