Neil Anderson's book, "Becoming a Disciple-Making Church", focuses on growing spiritually mature Christians for discipleship. He points out that what inhibits our growth within the faith are personal and spiritual conflicts. Anderson believes that if we embrace God through his Word, we will find the answers to our problems within our hearts and minds. He integrates his own personal ministry, Freedom in Christ Ministries, as steps to take so that one can experience total freedom in Christ. It is a ministry of reconciliation. People who have reconciled with God are able to help others to be reconciled with him so that they may have a personal relationship with God through sincere repentance and faith in God (p.61). In short, discipleship is an encounter with God making Christianity a personal relationship with him. Paul writes in 2 Corinthians 5:17-18, "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! He states that a "vision in terms of ministry exists on both a personal and an institutional level. In order to have an effective ministry, one must know what a vision is, its purpose and how to develop an engaging vision that reaches the hearts of the surrounding community and its church.
