Since Jefferson wrote the Declaration of Independence, he understands the true need to gain freedom and how awarding freedom is. Thomas Jefferson was able to convince America that freedom is a necessity in life and when a nation, country, or ruler denies their subjects their freedom, it is the subjects responsibility to fight back in order to gain back their freedom. Jefferson knows the desire and need to be free and has worked hard to acquire his freedom and his country’s freedom, so ideally, he should be one of the easiest people to convince that slavery is immoral and that slaves need to acquire their freedom back, but this isn’t an ideal world where slaves are easily able to gain equal treatment and freedom. During this time in America, every American citizen would do anything and say anything to make sure that slaves are not giving their freedom because they do not believe that slaves, who are just seen as property, have the ability to achieve any kind of freedom.
