Narrative Essay On Ariana D Anwar

Ariana D’Anwar, princess of the planet Tamiria and first-born daughter to the royal family in over a hundred years. Life as she knew it was about to end and she prayed for someone to save her. But, she knew this was the only way to prevent a war between her beloved Tamiria and the much larger planet that everyone for years had referred to as Dark World. Ariana stood behind the closed, glass doors that lead out onto the balcony outside of her bedroom. She stared down and watched as three floors below her a crimson colored fog, swirled around then slithered up the walls of the ivory stones that formed the castle where she had been born just eighteen years earlier. The fog seemed to sense her presence as it gathered into what appeared to be …show more content…
“It’s time Ariana, Jarod is growing impatient with Tauron trying to break through the force field. Even with his powers added to strengthen it, well we both feel you will be safer far away from here.” Ariana took the arm he offered and quietly walked beside him down the long hallway that lead to the great room, where the villagers and her family as well as the warriors and the entire royal family of Dark World were waiting to witness the joining of the two planets as Jarod and Ariana joined their selves in marriage. “I know we have not been able to talk privately since this started a few short weeks ago, but, I want you to know I tried to talk King Derak out of this marriage. He hinted strongly that if I did not uphold the treaty that there would not be much left of Tamiria. I am sorry that we are not a bigger planet with highly trained warriors who would have stood a chance against their Vampryn warriors,” he said as they neared the double doors that separated them from the crowd of people from both worlds. Ariana leaned against her father’s shoulder. “Please, Father, don’t talk like this. I am not afraid to marry Jarod. I will gladly unite the two planets for Tamiria will gain much through my …show more content…
Your mother says they are a handsome group of men if that helps you any,” he said in a strange voice. Ariana smiled to hide the fear she really felt. She knew that all Vampryn men were rumored to be so handsome that most women called them beautiful, but the one thing Ariana feared was how she had over heard some of the village girls talking about their huge sexual appetites and how some of the men had such tempers that you were in great danger if you did not obey their every command. One of the other girls had gone on to say how she had gone with a group of girls to spy on the Vampyrn men to satisfy their curiosity. She then went into great detail about the overly large size of their sexual equipment as she had laughing called it, much to Ariana’s shock. She had also not been afraid to explain when they were caught watching the warriors as they took time out of their practicing to strip off and swim in the nearby river. Ariana had finally ran from her hiding place as she had vividly described what she had endured with more than one Vampryn male, things Ariana had never heard of

Thought provoking passage from this section: “Cassia Reyes, the society is pleased to present you with your match. I smile as Xander’s face appears on the portscreen immediately following the recorded message. It’s a good picture of him. As always, his smile looks bright and real, his blue eyes kind. I study his face closely, pretending that I’ve never seen this picture before; that I have only had a glimpse of him once, last night at the banquet.…

I walked through Whiterun chatting to some of the locals who I now knew well enough to make casual conversation with, I was interested to note that Mikael, Carlotta and Ysolda now all seem to be firm friends. When they saw me Mikael moved over to my side and admitted the girls had caught him watching, and were so turned on by it, they now let him watch, as being watched aroused them all the more, and they want me to know I’m welcome to join them any time I wish. Nazeem made some comment about me being a low class slut, so I punched him in the face, everyone nearby stopped to laugh; I guess it’s true that nobody likes Nazeem. Maybe I should have split my journal up into chapters like my predecessors, but it’s a little late now, so I’m afraid you will have to make do with what you get.…

Lermontov’s novel A Hero Of Our Time depicts the life of the antihero Pechorin, who is consumed by his existential ennui. His travels lead him to many different women, whom he regards only as sexual conquests. One of Pechorin’s lovers, Bela, is mistreated and manipulated by him and the men around her and is heavily objectified by society. She is traded like a chattel and is expected to submit to men. This essay will analyze how Lermontov slowly objectifies her to nothing more than a ‘doll’ (32) for Pechorin and how his love for her is fickle, as she is interchangeable with every other woman he has been with.…

What then would be daring and provocative, but would now be considered soft-core pornography, Eliza Haywood’s Fantomina (1743) deals with the sexual desire of both men and women. They are held as equal in this story, perhaps even moving slightly more to the women’s side as the title character Fantomina is often the one making first contact, as well as putting in the extra effort of creating costumes to attain her next fix of pleasure. Yet Haywood’s heroine goes beyond her disguises’ purpose of attainting sex by her gradually becoming the person that she is preforming as; not specifically the precise character she is channeling (a prostitute, a country girl, a widow, and a secret admirer), but as someone that has control over her own body. These stratagems are so successful, mainly because they play off and the idea that males interest in sex overrides rationality, as well as Fantomina’s own desires.…

    Edmund Spenser Gender

Edmund Spenser’s The Faerie Queene is widely recognized as one of the greatest epic poems of the Elizabethan age. It may be also commonly assumed that Spenser’s poetry represents an archetypal convention of gender in the era. Though Spenser plays off the feminine conventions linking the figure of power, Queen Elizabeth with specific characters, for example, Una in Book I, traditional patterns of feminine stereotypes are still continually penetrated in Renaissance and Spenser’s portrayal of feminity to religious discourse which reflects, an undertone of fear of women (Norbrook, 120-123) or, an anxiety about female sexuality. This paper is a feminist reading on how the portrayal of Una, as an idealized woman embodied with chastity and beauty reflects a male anxiety about female sexuality and discourse reinforcing female as a subordinated role in Renaissance society.…

The literary standards of the eighteenth century differ from those of the American Realistic and Naturalistic literary period in many aspects. For instance, eighteenth century satirical texts and American Literature take different approaches in their use of focalization and the way in which it functions. Purdue University’s Introductory Guide to Critical Theory, defines focalization as “the presentation of a scene through the subjective perception of a character. The term can refer to the person doing the focalizing or to the object that is being perceived. In literature, one can achieve this effect through first-person narration, free indirect discourse, or what Mikhail Bakhtin refers to as dialogism” (Dino, 2002).…

    Constancy In Cupid

    • 1050 Words

Cupid is emblematic of the constancy of the sonneteer’s love as induced by the female object. As the sonnets progress, he becomes the object of her attention and her criticism, before she finally moves away from both Venus (Wroth, Crown Sonnet 9) wherein she rejects him for her “sunne”, and Cupid (Sonnet 103) (who seems to become a sort of surrogate for her love interest, as well as the representative of her own desire) to a higher form of love that transcends both passion and longing . Shift seems to reject female sexuality, and the lesbian exploration that comes with it, in favor of marital (or at least heterosexual) constancy, and the higher love that comes with it. This is further reflected in the corresponding plot of Urania, wherein…
