Some of these images are personal experiences. Some of them are images of a celebrity, one who triumphed over the norm to achieve distinction. No matter the mental image that one comes up with, the definition of perseverance rings true. Perseverance is the act of following through with a task, no matter what obstacle one must overcome. Perseverance, in itself, is one of the most crucial reasons why a gritty student is more successful in college than a non-gritty student. A gritty student has a mindset which allows him or her to take on any challenge, with difficulty aside, and grow to understand how he or she must accomplish that task. Without this quality of perseverance, a non-gritty student is unable to cope with the numerous challenges that college hurls their direction. College is a valuable asset to students, one that allows them a gain of an average 1 million dollars made in the course of a career rather than a non-college graduate. If a student with a high caliber of potential refuses to access their own determination, this potential and gain is wasted by the student. Atychiphobia is known as the fear of failure; this is a common fear found in non-gritty students. Due to this, the quality of courage found in gritty students allows them to succeed in academic approaches more than non-gritty students. College, simply put, is much more difficult than high school; the quality of courage in these gritty students allows them to, as stated before, take on educational challenges with aspirations of success. Coinciding with this, the courage found in these gritty students allows them to charge forward without the fear of failing.
