Education is something that should be acquired by all human beings, it 's a source of art that should be perfected by everyone. However, people intend to go off of their paths to do something different, unique and that 's how legends are born. Our society thinks that if you don 't study, you won 't be able to get anywhere. CEO 's of companies like Microsoft and Facebook dropped out of school to continue on with their dream and that 's the reason why they are insanely successful today. It 's not about getting A 's and maintaining your intellectual abilities, it 's about what your interests are and perfecting those skills. One of those things being taking "hard courses" in summer school as a fast track or doing it in private schools such as Xyna to make their lives easier. Students intend to choose the easier way in order to get those A 's they 've been mentally set for by their parents, teachers and the community. They don 't realize that they would face complications when they get to college/university; not knowing how to cite properly, or properly structure an essay, or when to use semi-colon, and so forth. They wouldn 't have the right understanding of the material which could 've been taught in regular school. Kohn describes the situation by saying, "The horizon never comes any closer" (Kohn, 9). He means no matter how hard you try to find easy ways to get good grades, your intellect abilities would remain the same. I myself didn 't take anything in summer school to fast track anything because I knew I would need certain skills in order to survive in college/university. However, most of my friends did take summer school for English and are currently taking Xyna for other courses such as Physics. Their schedule consists of two spares in each semester leaving them with nothing to do. Kohn 's ideas are definitely valid as a fact that individuals would suffer if things come easy to
