Alexander the Great was a cavalry commander at age eighteen, king at twenty, conqueror of the Persian Empire at twenty-six, explorer of the Indian frontier at thirty (Garraty 1991). He accomplished more than expected of him. Son of King Philip II and Queen Olympia he was born in Macedonia. The movie Alexander: Ultimate Cut shows how when Alexander’s father, King Philip II, dies him taking the throne and making it a mission to be the most powerful ruler. The 2004 film Alexander: The Ultimate was directed by Oliver Stone. One part in the movie showed when all the romans came back from a victory from war and was having a celebration. Everyone was drinking and being lustful until there was a toast. A roman stated congratulations to the new queen they can be proud of and his soon to be son. Alexander got mad because he knew from what his mother told him, by time you turn 20 Philip won’t give you the thrown he will wait until his new born is 20 just so he can rule longer. Alexander said how you will let him insult us by calling my mother a whore and me a bastard. You arrogant brat I can marry who I want and have as many sons as I want. So I command you to apologize to your Kingsman. You’re no Kingsman to me, and his father banished him. What is confusing is in the beginning of the movie King Philip II and Alexander’s relationship seems normal. When he attacked in India they came strong. There was some rebellion before because many of his men wanted to go home and see their families. Alexander wanted to continue his quest east and then take the Nile River back to Egypt. They claimed him of being just like his father, a drunken man who wanted war. In the movie Alexander said “I have sacrificed just as much as you all, all I ask is for one more month. I’ve taken you farther than my father ever dreamed.” The ones who rebelled were executed and they continued the quest. The battle with Porus was long but the Romans pulled together. In the movie showed the Romans coming from different directions on horseback and foot. Also the scene turned red when Alexander was inured attacking Porus. The downfall they had was Porus and many of his army were in trees and on elephants. In the movie shows the elephants trampling Alexander’s army like ants. The battle culminated in the surrounding of the Indians, and Porus was finally prevailed upon to surrender (Alexander 2015).
