“It is in the nature of the medium [television] that it must suppress the content of ideas in order to accommodate the requirements of visual interest; that is to say, to accomodate the values of show business.” This quote from Neil Postman’s Amusing Ourselves to Death shows how current day media is suppressing the content for entertainment purposes. Similar ideas are shared in Aldous Huxley’s Brave New World, in which he created a dystopia where people are born into a society that suppresses beliefs in exchange for sustainability.
