Truth asks this question in her poem to show how women have created this world. Truth believes that in everything that has happened women have always been the base foundation. Because a man told her that women cant have rights because God wasn’t a woman Truth replies with, “‘Cause Christ wasn’t a woman! Where did your Christ come from? Where did your christ come from? From God and a woman!” ( ). Truth uses allusion to make her question about where Christ came from. What Truth meant by this is that man had nothing to do with the creation of man because it was god and a woman. Truth argues that Christ was born of a woman and God, and that “man had nothing to do with Him” (Truth). Sojourner Truth notes that men expect women to need “to be helped into carriages, and lifted over ditches, and to have the best place everywhere” but no one gives these things to her. She is either arguing that she is not treated the way white women are, or that she is capable of doing these things by herself regardless of gender or…

The complementarian recognizes many women displayed in the New Testament being close to Jesus and learning from him, evangelizing, including the first witnesses of His resurrection. Jesus’ teaching and relationships represent him being countercultural in equal treatment of men and women. However, Jesus himself represented a complementarian view in that He is the authority instructing others and His twelve apostles were all males. It was not until the next circle of a larger group of leaders does a woman appear. Blomberg makes a point in this with the statement “Increasingly, both liberal feminists and evangelical complementarians are agreeing that Jesus was no full-fledged egalitarian, despite initial enthusiasm among evangelical and liberal feminists alike that perhaps he was.”…

Stephen Covey once said, “Find your voice and inspire others to find theirs.” In this quotation, Covey explains that once you determine your beliefs and what you stand for, use your voice to inspire others to do the same. The same concept applies in the two works “Ain’t I A Woman” by Sojourner Truth and “Phenomenal Woman” by Maya Angelou. The main focus of these pieces is about women taking action and using the power of their voice to change the living for women and the levels of society. Analyzing these two works reveals a message that a woman’s voice is strong enough to raise the moral standards of how society views women.…
