Philia love is pretty much the love that you achieve through friendship. In this case, the military is based on trust from one another and cooperation, and how is that achieved you may ask? Friendship. They go together in packs and build their love from one another through trust. You don’t just hand your credit card to a Gas Pump in East Austin, do you? No, because you don’t trust it. It takes years to build it up but only minutes to lose it. These heroes use their Philia love to leave unharmed. They trust whoever is giving them directions and whoever is leading them. And sometimes this Philia love can pay off later in life. For example, the same man from the last example who went to the alley and got apprehended by two law enforcement officers was detained. One of the officers was searching him and noticed a concealed firearm. They kept the man detained and proceeded to put on the cuffs. But after he did the officer noticed a tattoo. He recognized it as it was the same on he had. He noticed his pain and that he just needed help. The officers then took the cops off and let him in the vehicle to take him somewhere else where he can be safe. The man needs help and the officer understood. These American heroes witness some of the most horrifying things imaginable. Death, blood, suicide bombers, and the list goes on and on. But one of the most troublesome things that they have to go through is what they have done, their actions. Having to live with the fact that you shot a 12-year-old kid that got tricked into suicide bombing is not so easy. Having to deal with the guilt in killing people because you had to is hard. Lots of veterans and soldiers suffer from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). They often get confused as in why they are not welcomed back or why they are easily discarded. They get forgotten and lost. Just like us Christians. We often question our Faith and have doubts. And it’s ok to question your religion and wonder why. There men and women feel the same way. This is even pointed out in the lyrics “I spoke to God today and she said that she’s ashamed, what have I become, and what have I done”. They even question what they are doing as the chorus reiterates “I’m on the wrong side of heaven and the righteous side of hell”. Notice how it says “and” so it means both at the same time. This also comes to an example where the lyrics say “I heard from
