Personal Narrative: The Murder Of Adnan Syed

Adnan Syed, The Murder At least one third of all female homicide victims in the U.S. are killed by male intimate partners — husbands and ex-husbands, boyfriends and estranged lovers. A couple weeks after a recently ended relationship with Adnan Syed, Hae Lee disappeared on January 13, 1999. In the podcast Serial, Sarah Koenig tells the story of how Adnan Syed killed Hae Lee and the motive behind the murder. Adnan Syed killed Hae Lee because of his terrible personality mixed with a recently-ended relationship.
Adnan had the motive to kill Hae Lee. One of his motives were that Hae Lee broke Adnan’s heart. Just this reason could have easily pushed Adnan over the edge as Sarah says in the podcast. “And the motive the State supplied, the basis

Adnan says he literally cannot remember anything from that afternoon which is very weird because when a big event happens in a person’s life, for example a murder, people remember exactly what they were doing, where they were, and who they were with at the time of the big event. “But it seems like I remember things that are beneficial to me, but things that aren 't beneficial to me I can 't remember. It 's just that I don 't really know what to say beyond the fact that a lot of the day that I do remember, it 's bits and pieces that comes from what other people have said that they remember, right?” (Koenig, “The Alibi”). This quote from Adnan does not make one bit of sense. How doesn 't Adnan remember where he was at and what he was doing during the time of his just recently murdered ex-girlfriend? He also has no recollection of what he was doing during the time of the murder so he has no alibi. “The problem is, when you ask Adnan to go back and tell his version of what happened that day, to refute Jay 's story, everything becomes a lot mushier. Yes, he hung out with Jay on the 13th, both during and after school. But he doesn 't remember exactly where they went, or what they did, or what time it was.” (Koenig, “The Alibi”). It doesn 't make sense how Adnan can’t remember where he was, what he was doing the day, and the time that his ex-girlfriend went missing. There 's …show more content…
He plays the good Muslim son at home and at the mosque, but look what he was up to. Saad remembers the prosecutor 's closing argument at trial.” (Koenig, “The Breakup”) Not only is he duplicitous but it doesn 't make sense to me that how such a nice and perfect kid could steal money from his church. “Adnan stole money from the mosque. Donation money. I heard various version on how this happened, or could have happened. But from what I can tell, the basic story is: people who come to pray on Fridays, and it is a lot of people, many hundreds, some of them put donation money into boxes. That’s what Adnan skimmed. Two people told me they saw him do it. One person told me he’d seen it several times - he wouldn’t go on tape - but the other guy did.”(Koeng, “Rumors”). This just shows how Adnan is capable of committing a crime and how he has no remorse for what he does. It also doesn 't make sense how Adnan can be so calm when he is convicted of committing a murder. Adnan should be furious that he was wrongly convicted. “Once, early on, I asked Adnan, “If you’re saying you’re innocent, why aren’t you bitter and angry, why do you sound so calm?” And he said a lot of things, then and since, because there’s no one answer. Part of it he says is that he realizes how lucky he

In Baltimore Adnan Syed was known for the most part as the nice, sweet, charming guy that is incapable of committing murder. Where as Jay Wild was known as more of the “bad boy” dealing drugs and was someone you would not want to mess with. Some peers also noted that he was one to fabricate stories so knowing when he was telling the truth could be a hard task. With two outstanding different reputations the setting helped the audience lean in favor of the villain, Adnan. Accusing Jay of lying was an easier coping mechanism than accepting the fact someone like Adnan was capable of murder.…

There is too much leisure time in the way Jay has described the timeline. Also, if Jay is telling the police that he is innocent and Adnan is guilty why wipe the fingerprints and throw the clothes away. The payphone must’ve been somewhere else. Jay probably forgot how the day went for there to be leisure time. He probably did not want to be involved in the first place and did not want to go to the cops at first.…

Adnan Syed - Guilty Ever since “The Judiciary Act of 1789”, the United States courts system has been accurately convincing some of the most ruthless and dangerous criminals the world has seen. It has been able to accurately distinguish the difference between innocent and guilty and kept lying criminals from escaping unscathed. The case of Adnan Syed is no different, even though Serial a podcast series narrated by Sarah Koenig may suggest differently. It is evident that Adnan is culpable of killing his ex girlfriend Hae Min Lee because his claim of innocence just does not make sense, and the fact he has a reasonable motive makes him very suspicious; that combined with a witness named Jay, who was willing to testify against his good friend…

The second reason I think Adnan must be innocent is because there are too many inconsistencies that Jay provides during his testimony while being interviewed by the police. Jay provides many stories, which sometimes do not match up to Adnan’s story or to the stories he provides. There were many inconsistencies that did not make sense, of which I will share the 3 that I found most important, which you can find in episode 4 called “Inconsistencies". The…
