We are all different, but one thing remains we want peace and love. While working in a nursing home there are many people who needs help weather it is the little things or doing all of their care because they do not have the ability to help themselves. You might be surprise with the things they can do on their own. Being disable does not always mean that they are in a wheelchair there can be multiply things that could be wrong with them and to name a few someone who is deaf, blind, someone who has Multiple sclerosis. These are just a few that are out there it is all the same be nice to them because they might have been born or something might have happen in their life to be where they are. Do not put an label on the individual who has the disability like for an example “Sue brother is retarded” that is an negative thing to say try saying like this “Sue brother has a cognitive disability” this would be a better choice. If someone has a hard time understanding you, things that you can do to make things better is to talk slowly, speak clearly, and give them time to process with the information that are given to them. Give the person a chance just because they have a disability does not mean that they do not know how to socialize with normal people. If you know someone or work with someone who has a disability do not tell people that they have one it could hurt their feelings and it is disrespectful.
