Colin Powell once said, “A dream doesn’t become reality through magic; it takes sweat, determination, and hard work.” On a different note, Kevin Conroy stated, “Everyone is handed adversity in life. No one’s journey is easy. It’s how they handled it that makes people unique.” From these two quotes, one could say that it is possible to overcome adversity through the determination to preserve. Often in life, people will let hardships get the best of them. It can be hard for people to stay determined in the midst of all their trials. Henry developed the topic of staying firm to the belief of determination through the stumbling blocks of life by following counsel which if not taken could have led to a catastrophe, through writing a message to a friend because he was a fugitive, and by using talents that could have created a tragedy. After Jimmy changed, he was determined to stay a good man during all the distress he had to face. Although, he might have cracked some safes, Jimmy changed for the better. When he amended himself to become a better person, that gave him something to stay determined to accomplish. Although Jimmy had done things that others would not be proud of, he thrived in the hard work to remain out of prison. He had perseverance in everything he did. There are challenges in life, and the best way to face them is with determination. It will not be easy, but people can accomplish anything that they desire to do. It takes hard-work, time, and not giving up when it gets hard. To conclude, an unknown author stated, “Failure keeps you humble, success keeps you glowing, but only faith and determination keeps you going.” Another unknown author said, “The next time you find yourself in the midst of a bad experience, remind yourself you can take this time and to learn and grow from it.” From those two quotes, it is easy to say that from adversity people can learn how to stay focused on what matters to them and maybe even those around
