I. INTRODUCTION
On Friday, November 6, 2015, I attended a concert at the New Victory Theater in New York, New York. The concert was given by the Isango Ensemble. The title of the concert was A Midsummer Night’s Dream. This title included compositions by many composers. The piece that I am choosing to focus on is Mark Danford-May A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
Then, on Friday, November 13, 2015 I attended a concert at the New Victory Theater in New York, New York. The concert was given by Lizt Alfonso Dance Cuba Production. The tittle of this concert was Cuba Vibra. This tittle included compositions by many composers. I am choosing to focus on Besame Mucho performed by Consuelo Velasquez.
The intention of this report is to compare two performances of contrasting genres and to find either similarity of dissimilarities between the two.
II. BACKGROUND OF COMPOSITION
A Midsummer Night’s Dream is a magical piece because it is a story of enchantment, a traditional fairy tale with a comic touch. It is also a psychological Pandora’s box; a tale in which purity, madness and cruelty all take place and explode into each other. The play originally written by William Shakespeare is recognized for being a fantastic piece of work and the Isango Ensemble did not fail to keep the legacy.
