In any historical non-fiction film, there are many differences from the movie and the real life event that happened. For instance, in Hacksaw Ridge Desmond Doss’ father comes into the courtroom to fight the case of his son being denied to enter the military and be sent to a conscientious objector camp. In the movie, Doss’ farther contacts his old commanding officer to get a letter preventing Doss from getting sent away to that camp. In real life, Doss’ father contacted the chairman of the church’s War Service Commission to find out if it was necessary for the military to turn to deny Doss.
