Human beings always want to make special moments memorable that the biggest proof is photos which we encounter daily in social media. When a bunch of people gathered to specific place, they needed one to take their photos. Gradually, desire of taking group or solo photos has ended up with invention of selfie, and in a short time, selfie became a trend. At least, everyone almost has one selfie in social media accounts. Posting selfies on social media is creating an obsession that requires posting more selfies frequently. This obsession may result in a desire of being famous that some people make it priority. On social media, bloggers and phenomenon became famous due to fact that their attractive blogs, fashion show-offs and significant selfies. Similarly, they share selfies to illustrate what they are doing, eating, wearing, and so on. For this reason, people struggle to take a selfie with popular persons such as singer, footballer, scientist and actor in order to get more likes, more followers, and of course fame. Alternatively, taking marvelous selfies to get more followers on Instagram, selfies obsessed people take a risk of death. For instance, the photographer Thiago Correra climbed to the Jesus Christ statue’s top which has 125 feet height. After couple days, the number of followers of Thiago increased 3 times. This example illustrates us what desire of being famous can lead.
In a brief, selfie which is the trend of our cyber world and takes a big part of our social life is the sign of narcissism and have serious consequences that is hard to atone such as feeling superior to others, not thinking about impacts of behaviors on others, having an endless hunger for fame, and spending more time in front of the mirror.
