Texas Law states that “a person can also shoot someone they if they reasonably believe deadly force is necessary to prevent someone else from trying to kill or seriously injure them, or there is the threat of certain crimes such as sexual assault or aggravated kidnapping” (Schwaller, 2015) This was a law set to protect what one considers valuable, whether it be his or her own families or even just to protect oneself from harms way. In 2007 there was a man who saw his neighbors’ house being broken into and saw the assailants fleeing the home. The man then proceeded to call 911 to inform them he intended to shoot the burglars should they not stop fleeing. He shot both assailants and a year later he was acquitted.…
Evaluation Article In the article "Say no to guns on college campuses" by Jade Reindl and Jean Cocco, they are trying to get the audience to see that guns shouldn’t be allowed on college campuses or any school campus at all. They also use good backup reasons to support the message they are trying to send, along with credible sources, making the article convincing. The target audience isn't just other school students and academic audiences, but also Non-students because any and everyone can be affected by the issue that is being discussed. In “Why Gun ‘Control’ Is Not Enough,” McMahan argues that the United States should ban private gun ownership almost entirely. His most crucial claim is that general gun ownership does more damage to the U.S. than it prevents. Statistics: The Centers for Disease Control listed firearms as the #12 cause of all deaths between 1999 and 2013. They were also the #1 method of death by homicide (66.6% of all homicides) and by suicide (52.2% of all suicides). The biggest argument for guns are for self-defense. Around 16,459 people were murdered in 2016, and roughly 73% were killed using a firearm of some kind.
