Friends and family are obviously influential in a person’s life, identity included. Parents push their children to behave in certain ways, friends dare each other to do asinine tasks, both result in identity changes. One quote from Valerie Ulene’s A Teen’s Friends Are a Powerful Influence states, “The influences that friends exert over each other is truly powerful…”(Ulene). Ulene’s statement explains how friends can drastically influence each other. While many people agree with her statement, there are some people who can argue that friends don’t have that much influence over each other.
