I like the strange stories that pop up in the newspaper every now and then. I don 't want a steady diet of them, after all the news, and what is going on in the world is important. As a Christian its important for us to be informed on what is going on in the world. But lets face it, we can only take so much of the hard news before we begin to get overwhelmed ,maybe a bit depressed.

So it 's with some relief that I find one of those odd stories. My favorite over the past week was one that came out fo New Jersey about a woman who climbed a tree and realized that once she got up there she had no idea

If you are unfamiliar with Pokemon Go, it 's basically the old Gameboy Pokmeon game that 's laid over a GPS system of the community ou are in. It essentially, by using your smart phone alllows you to virtually be in the game as you walk around your community, One can find the characters over aid on different places, usually public spaces. You can play, catch, train your characters.

It 's become an incredible phenomena over the past few months. I know in our community it is quite common place to see thirty or forty people walking around playing the game over a few hours. Until I had heard about the game, I admit, it was a bit disturbing to see cars roll up late at night in front of the church and just sit there with theri car running and their lights on. Once I knew our church was a "stop" for the game it made sense. People seem to play 24/7. Knowing that church 's are often used as a part of the game, many churches are using it as a way to be hospitable and welcoming their

It says in the book of acts that "and they said, believe on the lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, And thy house" (act 16:31, KJV). Looking back on my passed five years of knowing Jesus I would describe it as a rollercoaster ride. Back in sixith grade I was going through a transition from Crosswalk to Hang time, Elementary School to middle school, and ultimately finding who I was and knowing Jesus. It was my 2011 Hangtime Winter Whiteout when I accepted Jesus into my life. Every year we do this thing called " Cry Night " that Winter Whiteout in particular we watched clips from "The Passion of Christ " and it was to the song " How He Loves " by David Crowder.…

In today's society the average person goes through high school, then repeats the cycle through college, gets their degree and goes out into the “real world”. They meet someone, have a family and move out to the suburbs. That is the path that most americans take throughout their long journey in life. Contradictory to that some of the wealthiest people took the risk of taking their own path and profited very well from it. “Have the courage to follow your own heart and intuition” (Steve Jobs).…

My worldview closely resembles the Biblical Worldview described in the Charry text, but by no means is anywhere near where it could be. My Christian character will continue to develop and mature throughout my life as I continue to study the scriptures, commune with God in prayer, continually ask for repentance, and forgiving those who have showed transgressions toward me. L. Gregory Jones states, “Christian living requires a willingness to inquire after the God of Jesus Christ, an inquiry which shapes us a people of repentance and forgiveness” (Charry, 2000, p. 204). Repentance and forgiveness are two aspects of the Christian walk that I struggle with. There are many times that I get so busy with life that I forget to prayerfully repent…

The shooting in Orlando, the attack in France, the killings of many innocent African Americans, and even Donald Trump taking the lead in the presidential candidacy. We are not able to predict when it will happen, but when it does occur, it is difficult to process the event. Especially if it continuously occurs and makes it onto big name television news. I, for one, am not the only one who can feel the whole atmosphere of the world change the moment something tragic occurs. With the continuity of such incidents occurring, it is difficult to imagine a more beautiful world.…

On August 26, 2005, I gave my life to Christ, and it was the start of a whole new chapter of my journey. I still remember that night vividly in my head. The feelings of excitement, joy, and love were very tangible in my heart. My mom and dad were both sitting beside me on my bed while I was told the importance of this decision and how my life would never be the same. Even at 5 years old, I was aware of my decision to follow Jesus and accept him into my heart.…

Til Death Do Us Part Every night before I fall asleep I catch up on the news from my iphone. I start off with the happenings in the world and the national arena since it 's the most depressing followed by entertainment news because it 's just “head shaking-ly silly” and I wrap up with the happy optimistic articles on healthy living and your general “nurture yourself” stuff. I need to read it in this particular order to be able to cleanse my spirit of the tragedies I have a hard time comprehending such as the many couples who commit mind-boggling atrocities against one another and/or their children in the name of revenge. The numerous plots to hire hit men to make sure their spouse have an unfortunate accident leaving the bereft spouse a large inheritance and no custody battle.…
